Chris Rock

Raised in Crown Heights and Bedford-Stuyvesant, Chris Rock, comedian, actor, television,  film producer and director, is one of the most recognized talents of his generation. Rock became a cast member of the popular sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live in 1990. He and other new cast membersChris FarleyAdam SandlerRob Schneider and David Spade became known as the Bad Boys of SNL. In 1991, he released his first comedy album Born Suspect and won acclaim for his dramatic role as a crack addict in the film New Jack City. His tenure on SNL gave Rock national exposure. He was voted by Comedy Central as one of the top five greatest stand-up comedians of all time. Rock has starred in numerous HBO specials, most notable for his comedic performance in Bring The Pain, Bigger and Blacker, and Never Scared. His comedic success lead to several lead roles in major motion pictures such as Dogma, Down to Earth, and Bad Company. In 2005, Rock created Everybody Hates Chris, (Much of Rock’s material that comes from his childhood is based on his experiences being bused to an all-white school in Bensonhurst, also the premise to this sitcom) a television comedy series based on his school days. The show became an immediate commercial hit and has earned much critical acclaim. Chris Rock is truly a face of Brooklyn.
