Council Member of District 40, Dr. Mathieu Eugene made history by becoming the first Haitian elected official to the New York City Council. He was also the first to be elected twice, within months, to the City Council. Dr. Eugene is a community leader, educator, health professional, local media personality and is the Founder of a non-profit organization in Flatbush serving young people for over a decade. He has dedicated his life to community service, both here in Brooklyn and in his native Haiti. He attended College Notre Dame, and graduated from Regina Assumpta College in Haiti. Dr. Eugene holds a Medical Degree from Universidad Del Norte Este in Mexico and is a member of the Aesclepius Medical Society. He founded YES (Youth Education and Sports). This organization, which served thousands of Brooklyn youth and their families from diverse backgrounds, promoted self-esteem, discipline, respect, and skill development in preparation for success in school and life.
