Known for : Senator , 37th District ; Senator Dilan grew up in Bushwick and went to Brooklyn College where he participated in the Special Baccalaureate Degree Program. Born of Puerto Rican and African American decent, Erik was born on May 11th 1974 to Martin Malave-Dilan and Debra Dilan. Martin was his predecessor in the Council and is currently elected to the New York State Senate. He has two younger sisters, Melissa and Nicole. At the age of 29, Erik is the second youngest member of the City Council. Erik Martin Dilan attended St. John's University where he received his Associate of Science in Business Administration. Erik attended New York City Schools, graduating from Norman Thomas High School, Phillippa Schuyler Middle School and P.S. 151. Dilan represents the people of the 37th Councilmanic District serving the communities of Bushwick, Cypress Hills, East New York, Ocean- Hill Brownsville and Wyckoff Heights. Erik Martin Dilan is a life long resident of the 37th Council District. First Elected to the City Council in November, 2001. Erik Dilan is truly a face of Brooklyn.
