Annette M. Robinson was elected to the 56th Assembly District on February 12, 2002. Assemblywoman Robinson brings to Albany a deep concern for the well being of New York’s families and a strong commitment to economic development and community service. She was elected to the New York City Council in 1991. As the representative of the 36th Council District, she served as chairperson of the Sub-committee on Juvenile Justice. Robinson is also a national speaker on religious, cultural and political issues. Robinson was born in Harlem and raised in Brooklyn. Married for over 40 years to William Robinson, she is a mother of six and grandmother of ten. Robinson received both her Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degrees from New Hampshire College. Annette grew up in Bedford-Stuyvesant to be exact. She was one of the leaders who fought to open Woodhull Hospital and the Interfaith Medical Center, and helped organize the North Brooklyn Coalition of Senior Councils and the Bedford Stuyvesant Inter Agency Council on the Aging. Assemblywoman Robinson also established international relationships between her Bedford Stuyvesant community, with Panama, Brazil, and South Africa, in her efforts to unify the melting pot that is her Brooklyn Community. Annette Robinson is truly a face of Brooklyn.
