description
The Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Art (MoCADA), the first and only contemporary African Diasporan Art museum in Brooklyn, New York, is hosting an outdoor festival in conjunction with our current exhibition, JOHANNESBURG TO NEW YORK. Please join us at Cuyler Gore Park in Brooklyn, New York (one block from MoCADA) on Saturday, May 2nd, 2009. To help celebrate the 15th anniversary of the ending of apartheid and the election of the first African American president of the United States, MoCADA is partnering with the Museum for African Art, Blackagemedia, and ImageNation Cinama Foundation, to host Brooklyn's first South African Freedom Day! The event will feature live musical performances by Bakithi Kumalo, Wunmi, Mikanic and Dorothy Masuka, a dance performance by the Restoration Dancers, arts & crafts, food by Madiba restaurant, and a film screening of Spirit of the Uhadi!
