The Bethel Seventh-day Adventist Church is a member congregation of the worldwide faith community of Christians known as Seventh-day Adventists. Bethel began in 1904 with a small company of believers. The group was then known as Second Brooklyn SDA Church. It became an organized church in 1936. Bethel is the oldest Seventh-day Adventist Church in Brooklyn, serving a predominantly African-American congregation. The membership has fluctuated between 10 at the inception to 1,180+ in 1992. Presently the membership stands at 700+.
Established in 1847, this historical house of worship has a rich history of service. Founded by abolitionists, Concord served a safe haven for slaves escaping to the north. Years later they would help to organize what would later become the National Baptist Convention, Today their legacy to service continues as they work to not only spread the word of God but to also be a beacon of refuse, education and hope throughout their Marcy community.
First A.M.E. Church was established in the 1940's and for seventy years has worked to uphold not only their spiritual message but also the high denominational standards towards educational excellence.
The Elim International Fellowship was established by Bishop Wilbert S. McKinley on July 26th, 1964. Today it is a metropolitan church with Bishop Wilbert S. McKinley at its helm. A church reformed in its theology and doctrine, with a vibrant charismatic expression, which offers universal appeal to worshippers of varied cultural, ethnic, socio-economic and educational strata.
