Charles Bradley was born in Florida but raised in Brooklyn, NY. He spent much of his childhood and mid-life roaming the country before returning to his beloved Brooklyn. Inspired by James Brown, he began performing his routines under the alter ego “Black Velvet”. Bradley caught his big break performing his Black Velvet act at the Tarheel Lounge in Bedstuy where he would meet Gabriel Roth of Daptone Records.
The World (Is Going Up In Flames) is the first single off the album No Time for Dreaming , released in January of this year.
