MoCADA created the Soul of Brooklyn initiative as a means of supporting the growth and vitality of African Diaspora arts organizations and small businesses in the borough of Brooklyn. Soul of Brooklyn is composed of a 32-member consortium of arts organizations, a website and newsletter that promote arts/ business partnerships, and a monthly series of events that places arts programming directly in locally-owned small businesses. The centerpiece of Soul of Brooklyn programming is Soul of Brooklyn Week, an annual celebration of African Diaspora arts in Brooklyn featuring over 20 arts events and drawing over 20,000 attendees. Come and take part in Soul of Brooklyn as we foster a deep interest in the arts, while spurring economic growth on the local level.
